Google Ads: Case Studies

Client: Step by Step Dancewear
Goal: Improve YoY return on ad spend


A specialty dance retailer, Step by Step Dancewear wanted to improve their online sales across Australia. After integrating their WooCommerce store with key Google platforms (like Google Merchant Centre) in late 2022, I launched and refined multiple Google Ads campaigns.


As part of their ongoing account optimisation, I regularly review their Google Ads data to refine campaigns based on performance. This allows us to shift budget towards high-performing products, improving return on ad spend and scaling campaigns for maximum profitability. I also update campaigns based on seasonal promotions (like Black Friday) and ad assets (like images) to ensure the ads remain relevant and engaging.


The goal is now to improve Return on Ad Spend (ROAS)  - a key metric which measures how much revenue you earn for every dollar spent on advertising. For example, a ROAS of 420% means that for every $1 spent on ads, you generate $4.20 in sales. Since launching Google Ads, here are the YoY ROAS results:

  • 2022-2023: 298%
  • 2023-2024: 454%
  • 2024-2025: 528%
Client: NQIT
Goal: Start generating online leads


A North Queensland-based Managed IT company, NQIT had great brand awareness through an extensive outdoor advertising campaign. It was time to start leveraging that awareness into leads. They had previously tried Google Ads, but as the account was not set up to track conversions, they may as well have been throwing dollars into the wind.


Firstly, we determined that a legitimate lead would be tracked as submitted website enquiry forms, and phone calls over one minute in duration. I then connected the tech to ensure the data would track correctly, before completing keyword research and establishing various ad campaigns (Search and Performance Max). Since then, the account has been regularly checked and optimised to improve results.


Without disclosing their budget or cost per lead, here are some key results over 12 months:

  • In the first 3 months of running ads, they received a total of 6 leads - a sluggish start!
  • In the last 3 months of running ads (as at mid June 2025), the received a total of 23 leads - with a 75% decrease in cost per lead.

This case also highlights an important reality of Google Ads: results often take time. Once Google has enough data to work with, we can begin making smart, strategic optimisations that drive real results.
